BIO

German singer Laura Kipp was born and raised in the South of Germany and studied jazz vocals at the HMDK Stuttgart and CNSM Paris. In 2015, her first year of studies, she joined the Bundesjazzorchester and participated at several CD and TV productions such as many concerts for two and a half years. In summer 2017 she had the honor to sing amongst Quincy Jones, George Benson, Dee Dee Bridgewater and Jacob Collier at JazzOpen Festival and just after that headed to study at the national conservatory in Paris, where she learned from musicians such as Vince Mendoza, John Patitucci, Riccardo Del Fra, Francois Théberge and Médéric Collignon.

In her own projects she shows her ability to compose such as her love for foreign languages and poetry. She writes lyrics in English, French and German for her own songs such as songs of fellow musicians and regularly plays concerts all around France and Germany.

The duo MachantMachant is the result of her experiences in a foreign metropole as well a very deep friendship to Parisian multi-instrumentalist Robin Antunes. In 2019 the duo was invited to JazzOpen Festival and had the honor to play an opening concert for Terence Blanchard and his E-Collective. Some days later the two became finalists at the Züblin competition in the category singer-songwriter. Since 2018 the two musicians play club concerts in Germany and France, like for exemple the Baiser Salé Paris.

Quiet Land is a collaboration with bass player Jens Loh who composes in a way that matches up perfectly with Lauras poetical way of describing situations and feelings. The two musicians work together since 2017 and found a wonderful harmony that brings out the full potential of warmth, power and sometimes fragility of Lauras voice in songs that take the audience to a foreign and beautiful place.

After concerts in Germany the band had their first tour in France in January 2020 where they performed as a quartet complemented by William Lecomte and Eckhard Stromer. These three incredible and experienced jazz musicians  feature Lauras voice and lyrics with exciting improvisation and great sensitivity for her voice and Jens compositions.
